Alon Mozes, PhD
CEO and Co-founder
Dr. Mozes has been working in computer graphics and image-guided applications in start-up companies for nearly 20 years. As a principal engineer and one of the first 20 employees at MAKO Surgical Corp., he helped develop the software for their ground-breaking Rio system for orthopedic robotic surgery. Prior to MAKO Surgical Corp., he developed Emmy award-winning technology with Sportvision, Inc. in the area of real-time sports broadcast graphics. Dr. Mozes received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami and his B.S. and M.Eng. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
VP Operations and Co-founder
Mr. Salcedo has over a decade of experience in manufacturing and mechanical design for the medical device industry. He was a principal robotic design engineer for MAKO Surgical Corp. and was a key designer for the first concept as well as one of the main designers for the second generation systems to follow. Prior to that, Mr. Salcedo served as lead researcher for the Cardiovascular Engineering Center at Florida International University. Mr. Salcedo was also a senior manufacturing engineer for Calnetix Inc., the world leader in developing and manufacturing high speed electric motors and generators. Mr. Salcedo holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the Florida International University.
Director of Software
David Cole received his B.S. in Engineering & Applied Science with an emphasis on mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 1989. Somewhere along the way, he was infected with the “must write code” virus, hooked on the possibility of writing software useful enough to be adopted by millions of people around the world. Always a fan of graphics of any sort and software for the common man, he became a key developer on the team that built Visio, drag and drop drawing software for the rest of us. Visio was later acquired by Microsoft and became part of the “Office family” of applications. Since joining the Kitware team in February, 2005, he contributed code to many projects including VTK and ITK, some of the most commonly used libraries in medical imaging. Controversially, he thinks it’s more important for software to work than it is for software to be open source.
