Frequently
asked questions
Everything you need to know about robotic-assisted dental implant surgery.
What is Yomi?
Yomi is a robotic system that assists dental providers in planning and performing dental implant procedures with repeatable accuracy. It combines advanced imaging, AI planning software, and robotic guidance designed to achieve optimal implant placement and better outcomes for patients. Neocis makes two models — the original Yomi and the all-new Yomi S, as well as the intelligent planning software YomiPlan.
How does the procedure work?
Robot-guided surgery starts with intuitive digital planning that sets the stage for minimally invasive surgery and excellent restorative outcomes. YomiPlan automatically detects surrounding anatomy, enables same-day guided surgery, and allows you to modify your plan on the fly if needed. Intraoperatively, Yomi and Yomi S provide multisensory guidance to help you perform osteotomies and place implants exactly where you’ve planned — physically preventing deviations from your intended position, angulation, and depth.
That means Yomi is designed for more flapless surgeries, less interactions with adjacent anatomical structures, more efficient surgeries, less pain and faster healing.*
*Yomi provides repeatable surgical precision. Yomi robotic guidance allows for flapless procedures in more cases. Flapless procedures have faster recovery than open flap procedures. Based on published clinical studies found at neocis.com/clinical-evidence
Is Yomi autonomous?
Yomi doesn’t move autonomously, but instead it works in tandem with the Doctor to prevent off-plan movements.
The doctor controls the handpiece, while robotic guidance prevents positional and angular deviations, and stops the drill tip from going beyond the desired depth. That means more reliable implant placement for your patients.
Is this technology trusted?
Dentists and surgeons across the country have placed over 100,000 implants using Yomi – and counting.
Additionally, published clinical studies have shown Yomi’s advantages in accuracy, efficiency, and more.
What procedures can Yomi perform?
As the first FDA-cleared robotic-assisted platform in dentistry, Yomi can perform osteotomy and implant placement for singles, multiples, full arches, dual arches and FP1 cases. Yomi can also aid in guided bone reduction. We are always working on expanding its clinical capabilities, and you can learn more about these clinical indications here.
What if a patient moves?
YomiLink physically connects to the patient, allowing for real-time tracking. Yomi knows where the patient is, and includes haptic feedback to prevent the doctor from going off-plan. Those patient micro-movements that may not be seen by the doctor with guides or freehand are tracked with Yomi for submillimetric accuracy.
How does robot-guided surgery affect patient experience and recovery?
The precise planning & robotic guidance of Yomi allows for minimally invasive procedures, which can minimize discomfort and speed up recovery.* In many cases, you can go from consultation to surgery in the same day, giving your patients a smooth, comfortable experience.
